Norwegian visitors and Stiggy Cup action on Sunday

Following Silsden Juniors’ European double earlier this week when teams visited from Finland and New Zealand, it is the turn of Oakworth Juniors to offer hospitality to overseas visitors.
The club’s u14s are in continental action on Sunday when Norwegian visitors Krokelvdalen travel to Bronte Playing Fields, 10.30am.

There is also more football action at Silsden where the Stiggy Cup is taking place from 11am.
It is the summer’s third memorial competition to be played at The Asda Foundation Stadium in tribute to lcoal sportsmen who have died at a young age.
The tournament is named after Steve ‘Stiggy’ Allen, who died aged 23 in 2007 in an industrial accident.
His mother Judith has since raised money through sponsored walks, raffles and quizzes at Steve’s coal, the Royal, in Keighley.
Funds have been raised for Steve’s old school, Our Lady of Victories; the HCPT, a trust which takes disabled children on a pilgrimage to Lourdes; and to a charity which provides emotional support to parents whose children have Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula Syndrome, a congenital condition and associated conditions.
This year’s event has had 28 entries and will support the HCPT, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion.
