Long Lee might have finished mid-table in the West Riding County Amateur League last season but off the pitch they were top of the pile. Secretary Kath Rickaby was presented with the league’s Secretary of the Year award at the league’s AGM, despite it being the club’s first season in the competition.
The award is given to who the league’s committee feels has displayed the highest degree of efficiency and competency and Kath told the Keighley News: “I was absolutely gobsmacked when I found out at the meeting.
“I’ve been secretary at Long Lee for 13 years. It’s lovely to get it but we don’t do these roles for awards, we do it for the players.
“I guess I’m the sort of person who if they’re going to do something, they want to do it right.”
Club chairman Charlie Wysocki was full of praise for her dedication and said: ““We are proud to have Kath as our secretary and look forward to continuing our success on and off the field.”
