Oxenhope pull off a late, late victory

Oxenhope struck two late goals to earn a 3-2 victory at home to Pool in the West Yorkshire League this evening.
Oxenhope trailed 2-1 after 89 minutes but Scott Nelson equalised from the penalty spot and then Craig Morris netted the winner in the third minute of stoppage time.
Graham Robinson had opened Oxenhope’s account after 20 minutes.

Butcher raises Bronte hopes

Halifax Irish 3
Bronte Wanderers 1
Bronte slipped to a West Riding County Amateur League defeat, despite a battling display.
They fell two goals behind but hopes of a point were raised when James Bailey released John Butcher and he outpaced the home defence to beat the goalkeeper in a one-on-one.
Unfortunately it was Irish who grabbed the decisive next goal.

Late despair for Steeton against leaders

A last-minute goal condemned Steeton to a 3-2 defeat at home to Ovenden West Riding this evening.
Sam Rooke added to Lee Reilly’s first half goal for Steeton.
Ovenden, who now sit top of the table with five wins from five games, had equalised just before half-time.
Steeton manager Roy Mason said: “Despite lots of pressure we got hit with a sucker punch.
“The lads worked their socks off and didn’t deserve to lose like that.”

Top teams all in league action tonight

The area’s top four ranked teams are all in league action this evening.

In the West Yorkshire League, OXENHOPE REC welcome Pool to Marley, 6.15pm, while in the West Riding County Amateur League, STEETON greet Ovenden WR and BRONTE WANDERERS make the trip down the A629 to take on Halifax Irish, both 6.15pm.

Wanted: Craven League reporters

The Craven League season kicks-off next week and Keighley Kicks will be covering all 19 of the area’s teams competing in it.
Plenty of volunteers have offered their services to keep us up to date with results and scorers but four clubs are missing.
Can you help? We need someone at CONONLEY SPORTS, SILSDEN WHITE STAR, SUTTON and WILSDEN to make contact asap.
If you can send a text, an email or Facebook message with the result and scorers as soon as possible after matches finish, contact Keighley Kicks – keighleykicks@gmail.com

Keighley Royals cast off disguise to reveal themselves

They have started their season in disguise but Keighley Royals are all set to launch a new name on the local football scene.
Last season’s Albert, have changed their name to the Royals but pre-season friendlies have seen them listed as both Albert and Volleys.
They start their Wharfedale Triangle Sunday League season next Thursday against Aire Valley and have played two games over the last few days in preparation.
Last Thursday they drew 2-2 at Cowling Reserves thanks to goals from Richard Borsay and Lee Rooke.
And on Sunday they lost by the odd goal in five to Cullingworth Youth. Royals scorers were John Tomkinson and Mark Johnson.
Previously, they beat Ingrow & Worth Valley Reserves 2-1 and Bingley Town Reserves 5-0.

FC Sporting get ready for action

FC Sporting Keighley make their seasonal bow next Tuesday with their first training session after the completion of Ramadan.
The training continues on Thursday, and then Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 before deciding which night the regular weekly training session will be held.
Due to Ramadan and Eid, Sporting have not played any pre-season fixtures and start their Wharfedale Triangle season on September 18 at home to Yeadon Athletic.
The club held an Ifthar event at Amaans Restaurant yesterday.

Wanted: Sandy Lane reporter

Club reporters continue to offer their services to ensure Keighley Kicks is bang up to date with all the local football as it happens.
The one team so far lacking coverage is Marley-based Sandy Lane Sunday of the Bradford Sunday Alliance’s First Division.
They won 9-0 yesterday so there is obviously lots to tell.
If you can send a text, an email or Facebook message with the result and scorers as soon as possible after matches finish, contact Keighley Kicks – keighleykicks@gmail.com

The week ahead: Aug 29-Sept 4

The nights are starting to draw in and this week sees the last of the non-floodlit midweek matches until the season reaches its climax way off in April.
But that gap in the fixture list should not be a worry for footie addicts with more local leagues kicking off this week and next.
The Wharfedale Triangle starts on Sunday with the Craven League and local women’s, youth and girls league starting soon after.
There’s no action tonight and only a friendly tomorrow but the rest of the week sees a flurry of league action, as well as Silsden’s continued trek on the road to Wembley with Harrogate Railway Athletic the visitors to The Asda Foundation Stadium in the FA Cup on Saturday.
