Smith triples up as Crossflatts run leaders close

Crossflatts’ three-match winning run came to an end in frustrating fashion.
Three times the Wharfedale Triangle Sunday League side led against Premier Division leaders Ilkley but every time the hosts hit back and eventually grabbed a late winner.
Man of the match Graham Emsley set up Lee Smith for the opening goal after 18 minutes but it was 1-1 just before half-time.
It looked as if Crossflatts had earned the interval advantage when Smith converted a penalty after 42 minutes but again the leaders hit back to make it 2-2 at the break.
Tactical changes by player-manager Lee Bailey worked for the visitors and they were ahead again within five minutes of the restart with Smith completing his hat-trick.
The home centre forward completed his own treble to make it 3-3 after 70 minutes but still Crossflatts pushed forward. Colin Schofield was inches away from converting Bailey’s cross and then Smith hit the bar  but it was Dynamo who grabbed all the points with the winning goal after 85 minutes.
Crossflatts will be looking to bounce back in their next match when bottom-of-the-table Shipley Town are the visitors to Crossflatts Rec.
