Cox and Taylor share points

Oakworth 1 Silsden White Star 1
Danny Cox added to last week’s brace at Chatburn with Whitestars’ only goal of the game as they shared the Craven League points in a Division One draw at Oakworth.
Oakworth brought Matthew Wilson back into the first-team fold in a must-win game for both teams, who were looking to avoid relegation.
Silsden started brightly and were ahead within the first 10 minutes. A quick ball sent long from defence caught the Oakworth back line napping and Cox raced through to coolly knock the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Oakworth were back on level term before half-time with a sweet strike from Luke Taylor from just inside the box.
The half-time 1-1 score was probably a fair reflection on a scrappy game.
The second half was a different affair as Oakworth controlled the game more by keeping the ball on the deck.
This resulted in several golden chances but it turned out to be one of those days in front of goal, which was epitomised when Luke Taylor hit a shot from outside the area only for it to hit his own man on the goal line.
Oakworth deserved more from the second-half display and it seems as though it was a reversal of the fixture at Silsden where they had the lions share of the game.
A draw it finished which wasn’t really beneficial for either team points wise but the performance was much improved.
