After their recent poor displays, Oxenhope’s second string bounced back to their true form to maintain their place at the head of Alliance Division Two with a commanding display against mid-table RIASA.
Oxenhope took the lead midway through the first half when Tony Cooper muscled his way to the edge of the box and, when his shot was blocked, Michael Donohoe was on hand to put away the rebound.
After the break, the home side extended their lead with the move of the match. Sean Quinlan picked up a loose ball in midfield and spread it out to Donohoe on the left, he played the ball into striker Chris Day who flicked it on to the oncoming Quinlan. He in turn switched the play to Liam Dyson on the other flank, he beat his marker before pulling the ball back for Day to finish confidently.
Stand-in keeper Joel Gallagher had caused problems for the opposition all afternoon with his long clearances and it was from one of his kicks Day collected, shrugged off two challenges before deftly lobbing the keeper.
The hard-working Cooper then surged down the left and crossed for Day to sweep home to complete his hat-trick.
The fifth goal was the icing on the cake when Day jinked his way down the right wing evading two challenges before whipping in a cross that was met with a fine diving header by Liam Gill who had run the length of the field to complete the rout.
