Rhodes’ stunner is match winner

Grindleton Reserves 1
Oxenhope Rec III 2

Oxenhope went a long way to securing their tenure in Division Three of the Craven League for a second season when coming back from a 1-0 deficit with an excellent second-half display.
The home side took the lead after 20 minutes when a cross from the right was headed home.
The game swung from end to end but neither keeper really had a save to make.
After the break, Oxenhope upped their performance and after 55 minutes good work by Joe Pullan on the right and a cross into the area was parried by the goalkeeper up into the air and Marc Westerman rose to head the ball over the line.
The visitors took control with skipper Andy Lamb and Westerman dominating the middle of the park.
The winner came in the 80th minute when Lee Rhodes won the ball out on the left in his own half and went past two defenders before letting fly from distance with a scorcher that gave the keeper no chance.
Grindleton rallied at the end in search of the equaliser but Oxenhope’s defence held firm.
