South Craven win district titles

Sam Maude and Andy Briggs were on target as South Craven beat Immanuel College 2-0 to lift the Bradford Schools FA Under-14s Cup.
South Craven had home advantage, playing on the Cross Hills astroturf and thought they had taken a first-half lead when Briggs rounded the goalkeeper and shot for goal. But fellow striker Morgan Galbraith helped it into the net from an offside position.
Immanuel hit a post and missed a glorious chance in the closing stages as they fought in vain for a way back.
South Craven had beaten cup favourites Parkside in the semi-finals, having seen off Appleton Academy in the previous round.
It completed a BSFA double for the school, the Under-19s were awarded their cup. They beat Tong, Immanuel and St Bedes Grammar to reach the final but four teams failed to arrange their quarter-final ties in time so South Craven won by default.
Hopes of a trophy treble were dashed in the Under-12s where South Craven lost 2-0 to Ilkley Grammar in the final.
South Craven sides also reached the semi-finals in two other age groups.
In the Under-16s Immanuel ended South Craven’s hopes with a 2-0 semi-final success and in the Under-13s Thornton prevailed 6-5 after extra-time.
Other local teams doing well included Oakbank, who won the Under-13s Cup, and Bingley Grammar, who beat St Bedes 1-0 to lift the silverware in the Under-15s.
