A big push is being organised to get more support for girls’ football in Keighley and Bingley area schools.
And Marley will be hosting a CPD event to encourage teachers who are responsible for delivering sporting activities to recognise the benefits of football.
The event runs from noon until 3pm on Friday, March 22.
It is being run by the West Riding County FA in conjunction with Bradford Council to support the growth and retention of female football within the county.
The West Riding CFA women and girls’ football development officer Caroline Hulme said: “As a County FA, we would like to address this, and support teachers to learn new fun, exciting football activities that they can deliver within their school and to their female students.
“Although everything you will learn will be football related, it will be based around multi-skills and activities that can be transferable to any sport.
“For example movement skills, football games to music etc.”
The event is aimed at teaching staff who would like to learn new fun practices and small-sided games that can support them to further develop their players’ decision-making skills, technical ability and overall enjoyment of the sport.
Caroline said: “The FA coaches are experienced in delivering sessions, which are suitable for players of any age – from those trying out football for the first time, to players that have played the sport for a number of years.
“We would like schools to nominate a maximum of two teachers/participants to attend this free event regardless of any prior football playing/coaching experience.
“This event is solely to support your school and teachers to encourage girls to take up football, and the event will be delivered in a fun, friendly and non-intimidating environment.”
Each participant will receive a coaching pack for their school.
Places are limited to 25. For more details or to book a place, email email@example.com or call 0113 2821222 (Option 1).
