Silsden youth crowned cream of the crop

Fields u19s 1-3 Silsden u19s

Silsden captured the u19 Northern Alliance West Division title on Wednesday night, after a sensational 2012/2013 campaign, with a 3-1 victory at Fields.
Silsden took the lead after just two minutes, with Josh McNulty converting a spot kick. Marshall Pedder doubled the scoring in the 20th minute, before Fields converted a spot kick of their own on the stroke of half-time.
Man of the match Ben Whitfield executed a delightful lob after 70 minutes to start the celebrations for the young Cobbydalers, who have won an incredible 13 out of 14 games, racking up 39 points.
Assistant manager Andy Gaughan paid tribute to the squad’s effort this season:
“I’m very proud of the lads, all of whom played their parts. The pleasing thing was team spirit was shown throughout the season. This was the first time in the many years I’ve been involved in football I have been involved with such a galvanised bunch. Everyone played for each other and the determination to succeed was there from the first game. Jez Fay certainly knows how to manage a team. The future is looking a whole lot brighter for Silsden thanks to him. It has been a genuine pleasure working with such a talented bunch of lads.”

  1. I couldn’t agree more, especially the bit about Jez Fay knowing how to manage a team and everything being rosey down at Keighley road thanks to me… Cheers – Jez
