Bottom of the table Cowling travelled to Settle, hoping for a long overdue win in Division Three of the Craven League.
They found themselves up against it from the start with Settle playing good simple passing football.
Settle scored their first when the Cowling keeper fumbled the ball into is own net from a simple catch.
The second came shortly after from a well-taken free-kick about 25 yards out, before three more quickfire goals put Settle five up at half-time.
Cowling got into the game more in the second half but could not find a killer instinct in the final third until an inspired substition from the Cowling manager saw Josh Wood come on and score twice, albeit it too late for a comeback.
No surprise that Wood picked up the opposition man of the match.
