Crosshills pulled themselves to within a point of their hosts in the middle of the Craven League Premier Division table in a game that just managed to beat the wet weather.
Rolls took a second-minute lead through a defensive error but Ben Dewhirst equalised with a stooping header.
Another mistake allowed Rolls to regain their lead but a mishit cross from Stu Parkin flew in to make it 2-2.
Hills were soon 4-2 ahead, thanks to a 25-yard screamer from Dewhirst and another from Rob Matthews, who ghosted in to finish well.
Rolls pulled one back before half-time with a smart volley.
Hills made it five when Danny Driver scored in controversial fashion, while the keeper was down and it was soon 6-3 with a pearler from Andy North that pinged the bar on its way in.
Scott Newton poked home from close range to make it seven but Rolls had the last word when they poured men forward and tapped in their fourth goal.
