Oxford United captain Jake Wright suffered a gashed knee when he landed on the bar that holds the back of the net to the ground, while making a clearance during last weekend’s 1-0 win over Torquay United.
An X-ray confirmed no breakage or tendon damage but the 27-year-old defender has had stitches in the wound.
“It is sore but it could have been a lot worse,” Wright told the club’s website.

“I thought it was serious straight away” he told www.oufc.co.uk. “I saw blood and just thought ‘Look away’.
“It is a really deep cut but they stitched it and sent me home. It is sore but it could have been a lot worse.”
