As the Craven, Aire and Wharfe Junior League U15 Division B season nears its end, Crosshills regained top spot in dominating style against fellow contenders Sandy Lane.
Neither side showed style or finesse in the first half as the windy conditions proved difficult.
George Slingsby broke the deadlock after 27 minutes when scrappy defending allowed him the opportunity to let fly with his left boot.
As the wind died down in the second half, Sandy Lane started to press but resilient defending and the knowledge of speed on the break, Crosshills extended their lead with two fine goals from Cameron Bealey-Kay and an own goal.
With 15 minutes left, Sandy Lane’s pressure told as the tired legs of the Crosshills’ defence allowed them a rare opportunity through on goal, which they took with ease.
Crosshills switched players at regular intervals to maintain freshness in midfield and attack, this proved decisive in the game and Connor Pepper broke through to finish the game off with a late strike.
