Quintas swaps gloves for goal as Silsden sink leaders

SilsdenSilsden U18 3 Menston 2
Silsden took revenge on Craven, Aire & Wharfe Junior League u18A table toppers Menston, despite starting short of players and conceding an early goal.
Absences and work commitments meant Silsden had only nine players for kick-off with regular centre forward Pedro Quintas starting in goal.
It was no surprise to see Menston go ahead in the opening 10 minutes but Silsden dug deep and had two clear cut chases themselves before reinforcements arrived.
At full strength, Silsden dominated the game and levelled when Quintas found the top corner.
Josh Metcalfe made it 2-1 and then slipped the ball under the keeper for a swift second.
Menston pulled back a goal with two minutes remaining but Silsden were deserved winners with Ryan Narey and George Sellars prominent throughout the game in the centre of midfield.
This win gives neighbours Steeton a chance to win the league but the derby rivals still need to play each other later in the month, which will have a big say in who wins the title.
Menston, Steeton and Farsley are all in the running with Silsden also playing Farsley in April so can have a massive impact on the destination of the silverware.
