On very windy Marley Sunday morning, Shammys ran out winners in a goal-laden match.
Silsden kicked off against the wind and scored inside three minutes from a deflection off a well drilled cross from Finlay Whitaker.
Two minutes later Shammys scored directly from a corner, giving first half stand-in goalie Jake Welford little chance.
A mix up in Silsden’s penalty area saw the wind help the ball into their net after seven minutes to make it 2-1.
SilsdenSilsden’s joint man of the match Sam Fearnley scored the first of his five goals when he rounded the defence to score and from the restart collected the ball in his own half and found the net again.
On the stroke of the end of the first quarter, Shammys equalised again from another well taken corner to make it 3-3.
The second quarter was won for Shammys with three goals in two minutes to make it 6-3 at half-time.
The third quarter saw the game being bossed by both defences. Silsden captain Finlay Smith, along with the other joint man of the match Patrick Sherry, held their defensive line well and replacement goalie Whitaker hardly making a save.
Going into the final quarte, Shammys made it 7-3 and then Silsden’s fightback began.
A now customary drag back and pass from Finlay Wilson fed Fearnley and he rounded the defence to pull one back.
Fearnley then collected the ball and let fly from 20 yards, straight into the top corner to make it 7-5.
Into the last three minutes and Shammys scored their eighth with a quick reply from Fearnley to complete the scoreline.
