Big night for Broomhill

Broomhill logoBroomhill could create a slice of history in tonight’s Craven League Division Three Cup final as they aim to lift silverware in their first season.
They face in-form Grindleton Reserves, who finished the season two points behind Broomhill after winning five of their last seven games.
The last time the sides met was last month and the 0-0 stalemate ended Broomhill’s promotion chance.
The Badgers have had a rollcoaster of a season and the League Cup is all that’s left to play for. They had remained unbeaten in the league until December when they lost to Grassington 3-2 but they ended the season unbeaten at home.
Broomhill have seen off the challenges of FC Sporting Keighley 3-2, Sutton 3-1 and Oxenhope Rec III 2-1 in the semi-final, while Grindleton’s victims have been Settle United Reserves and Salts III, both 3-1.
January recruit Joe Park will start but a massive blow for manager Stewart Kinnear is that Patrick King will miss the match because of working commitments.
The experienced Aaron Whitaker, Simon Harris, Chris Alvey, Chris Holroyd and Joe Slater should all feature in the squad.
Ben Manning and Connor Flaherty are ruled out until next season but Badgers youngster Ben Fairburn is set to make a return.
Kinnear will look to Tom Hill and Andrew Tanner up top and, with news of Simon Harris considering retirement, the Badgers would love to end the season for him on a high note.
Kick-off at Sandylands, Carleton New Road, Skipton, is 6.30pm.
