Call for new referees

Referee graphicAnyone in the Keighley area interested in helping keep the game running is invited to a West Riding County FA refereeing course at Oakworth.
The FA Basic Referee Course involves theory and practical and is being run at the Goosecote Lane home of Oakworth Juniors in August.
The minimum age for anyone wishing to take up refereeing is 14 and the course runs for a minimum of 21 guided learning hours
The course is open to anyone who is interested in officiating 11-a-side or nine-versus-nine football and will provide participants with an insight into the laws of the game and their practical application on the field of play.
It also looks at the skills required to be a referee and leads to Registered Referee Status (either level 8 Youth or Level 7 Junior County Referee)
The first tuition session of the course is on Sunday, August 10 (9.30am-5pm) with another tuition sessions followed by an examination a week later at the same time.
The middle session is a safeguarding children workshop and is on Tuesday, August 13 (6.30-9.30pm).
The basic course fee is £85 and candidates aged 16 and above are required to complete an FA Criminal Records Check (an online CRC check is £10).
The cost of the Safeguarding Children training for candidates aged 14 and 15 is £10 (this is undertaken during the course or by home study and not attendance at a workshop). The cost to attend the Safeguarding Children Workshop for candidates aged 16 and above is £25.
