Playing the first half uphill, it was an even first 10 minutes of end-to-end football, until a great through ball by Sam Ayik sent Lewis Gartland on his way to goal and he made no mistake to put Silsden ahead.
The second was not far off as 17 minutes in Sam Brockbank made another good save and the rebound resulted in some great passing between Lola Cunningham and Harry Whitaker, finding Jaylan Camsey who raced away to calmly finish past the home keeper.
Only a minute later Silsden extended their lead when a scramble in the box saw Gartland get his second and Silsden’s third.
Calverley played some good football but there was no getting past the Dragons goalkeeper Brockbank carrying on his great form from last season.
The second half saw both teams playing good football but, with one of his trademark mazy runs, Ayik found Gartland who finished off with a cracking shot to get his hat-trick.
Calverley tried hard but Daniel Barnes worked tirelessly on the right, stopping the Calverley team time and again.
After 35 minutes Josh Elliott snubbed out an attack, feeding Gartland whose shot was saved by the Calverley goalie but with great attacking play Jaylan Camsey followed up and struck the rebound in to give him his second goal.
No matter how hard Calverley tried, there was no getting past the Silsden back line and, with the midfield working their socks off, including man of the match Harry Whitaker, the game ran out.
A big thank you went to the Calverley manager for a great refereeing performance.
