Horsforth came from behind to deny Bingley a deserved Wharfedale Triangle Sunday League victory in their first home game at Crossflatts Rec.
Bingley looked the better side in the opening exchanges with neat passing in midfield and a solid defensive display.
The home side took the lead following persistent attacks on the Horsforth goal, the keeper being forced to make numerous saves before Colin Schofield found the back of the net with a rebound after his initial shot was saved.
Horsforth attacked on the break on a few occasions but without a decent shot on target.
The second half started as brightly for Bingley as the first half, with strong defending and forcing saves from the Horsforth keeper.
Chris Mawson made the scoreline 2-0 with a strike just before the hour mark.
Horsforth fought back well, catching Bingley snoozing in a 10-minute period, scoring two goals on the break.
Bingley then stepped up a gear and threw everything at Horsforth.
Declan Corby hit the crossbar and Lee Smith, Colin Schofield, Bob Scott and Chris Mawson all went close but couldn’t get the ball in the net.
The game was end to end in the closing stages, Scott Etherington making some excellent saves for the hosts.
Both sides held on for the valuable point in what looks to be a very competitive division.
It was an exciting game for the home fans, who turned out in large numbers to watch the game, as Bingley’s reputation grows with the local community.
